Whether your child is learning English as an additional language (EAL) or has special educational needs (SEND), our curriculum is designed to support all children in a nurturing, fun-filled environment and to empower every child to become confident, independent, and ready for the exciting world ahead. We are committed to inclusivity, ensuring that all children, regardless of their background or learning needs receive the support and encouragement they need to succeed.
We empower children through a rich, hands-on curriculum that sparks curiosity and nurtures development across all areas. Whether they’re learning new words, building friendships, exploring the outdoors, or creating masterpieces, our activities are carefully crafted to boost communication skills, build independence, and foster confidence. Through exciting play-based learning experiences—like nature walks, messy art, and collaborative games—we lay the foundation for school readiness and lifelong learning. Our approach embraces the needs of all children, including those with SEND and EAL, ensuring that every child receives the personalized support they need to succeed. At Happy Little Hearts, we’re more than just a preschool—we’re a place where every child’s potential is nurtured, celebrated, and encouraged to shine.
Our focus on the seven key areas of development: Communication and Language, Personal, Social, and Emotional Development, Physical Development, Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World, and Expressive Arts and Design ensures a well-rounded and enriching learning experience. Our activities are carefully designed to engage every child, providing them with the tools they need to thrive in school and in life.

For children with EAL, we use simple language, visual aids, and games to help them understand and communicate, ensuring they feel included in every conversation. SEND children receive tailored strategies to boost their language skills and social communication, helping them feel confident expressing themselves. By fostering these essential skills, we prepare children not only for school but for life, where communication is key to navigating the world.

Personal, Social, and Emotional Development
At Happy Little Hearts, we believe emotional growth is just as important as academic development! Our preschoolers learn about emotions, cooperation, and empathy through group play, role-playing games, and outdoor adventures. Whether it’s learning how to take turns in a group activity, supporting a friend, or solving a problem together, our children develop social skills that boost their confidence and independence. We also encourage self-care routines like washing hands, brushing teeth, and tidying up after activities, empowering children to take responsibility for their personal hygiene and wellbeing. For children with SEND, we provide personalized emotional support, helping them express their feelings and build meaningful relationships. EAL children are supported with language and visual cues to help them navigate social situations and develop confidence in communicating their emotions. These social, emotional, and self-care skills set the foundation for school readiness, helping children work cooperatively, express their feelings, and build strong friendships that will support them throughout life.

Mathematics
Math is all about discovering patterns, shapes, and numbers in the world around us! Through activities like counting leaves in the woodlands or sorting stones by size, our preschoolers develop a strong understanding of math concepts while improving their communication skills as they talk about what they see and do. Using loose parts to build structures or compare sizes helps children independently solve problems, building confidence as they explore math through play. EAL learners join in with simple number games, helping them build vocabulary while they explore math. For children with SEND, we tailor activities to meet their needs, offering hands-on materials and visual aids to ensure every child can engage with math confidently. These math skills not only prepare children for school but give them the tools to navigate the world around them, helping them understand and solve real-world problems.
